Overview: Cornelius von Baerle lives only to cultivate the elusive black tulip and win a magnificent prize for its creation. But when his powerful godfather is assassinated, the unwitting Cornelius becomes caught up in a deadly political intrigue. Falsely accused of high treason by a bitter rival, Cornelius is condemned to life in prison. His only comfort is Rosa, the jailer's beautiful daughter, who helps him concoct a plan to grow the black tulip in secret. As Robin Buss explains in his informative introduction, Dumas infuses his story with elements from the history of the Dutch Republic (including two brutal murders) and Holland's seventeenth-century "tulipmania" phenomenon

No one is more anxious to know the answer than Raoul, son of Athos, who is in love with Louise. Behind the scenes, dark intrigues are afoot. Louis XIV is intent on making himself absolute master of France. Imminent crisis shakes the now ageing Musketeers and d'Artagnan out of their complacent retirement
Vingt ans après by Alexandre Dumas( Book )

642 editions published between 1800 and 2021 in 17 languages and held by 2,305 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"A new translation of Dumas's rousing sequel to The Three Musketeers, picking up twenty years after the conclusion of that classic novel and continuing the adventures of the valiant d'Artagnan and his three loyal friends. The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas's most famous and enduring novel, completed its serial publication in the summer of 1844, and by the time of its book publication at the end of that year readers were already demanding a sequel. They got it starting in January, 1845, when the first chapters of Twenty Years After began to appear--but it wasn't quite what they were expecting. When Twenty Years After opens, it is 1648: the Red Sphinx, Cardinal Richelieu, is dead, France is ruled by a regency in the grip of civil war, and across the English Channel the monarchy of King Charles I hangs by a thread. As d'Artagnan will find, these are problems that can't be solved with a sword thrust. In Twenty Years After, the musketeers confront maturity and face its greatest challenge: sometimes, you fail. It's in how the four comrades respond to failure, and rise above it, that we begin to see the true characters of Dumas's great heroes. A true literary achievement, Twenty Years After is long overdue for a modern reassessment--and a new translation. As an added inducement to readers, Lawrence Ellsworth has discovered a "lost" chapter that was overlooked in the novel's original publication, and is included in none of the available English translations to date--until now. With Twenty Years After, Dumas's Musketeers Cycle becomes a real ongoing series, beginning a long story arc that will be continued in The Son of Milady, adventure following adventure until the final climax in The Man in the Iron Mask."--

The companions of Jehu by Alexandre Dumas( )

245 editions published between 1800 and 2021 in 9 languages and held by 1,469 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Les Compagnons de Jehu (The Companions of Jehu) is set in the 1800s, during Napoleon's rise to power. The title refers to a secret organisation of young aristocrats-turned-highwaymen that continuously steals the money of the Directoire in order to finance the restoration of monarchy. It has all the typical Dumas ingredients, that is to say duels, political intrigues, noble heroes and a tragic love store that would make Shakespeare green with envy. Not to mention a hero with a murky past who you will love-to-hate. Be prepared to shed quantities of tears. You've been warned!" -- GoodReads

Dumas on food : selections from Le grand dictionnaire de cuisine by Alexandre Dumas( )

100 editions published between 1873 and 2015 in 5 languages and held by 1,149 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

[SDM]
Celebrated crimes by Alexandre Dumas( )

142 editions published between 1840 and 2021 in 7 languages and held by 1,114 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The first edition of Celebrated crimes appeared in 1839 and Dumas subsequently wrote fourteen further volumes. This collection originally published in 1843, displays *for Dumas) a surprising code of ethics. Set in Italy, traditionally the land of ambitious but dissipated rulers, it chronicles some of the most infamous crimes of three centuries of political intrigue"--Jacket
